Lakeside Plein Air Paintout July 11-13, 2008 Featuring the Ohio Plein Air Society Artist information South Gate entrance – Rt 163 – Your passes will be available at this gate under the Plein Air paintout. Your pass is for you and a guest plus your vehicle. There will also be parking available at the South Gate and a Art Shuttle will take artists downtown etc. Painting canvas, boards, paper, etc must be stamped in order to participate in the Wet Paint Sale and Show on Sunday, July 13th from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Only original art work from the weekend will be at the Wet paint sale and show. Stamping on Thursday will be at Dziak Gallery from 11:00 -5:00 pm. at 810 W. Main St. Marblehead or at the Dziak Studio, 9163 E. Bay Shore Rd. from 5:15 – 7:00 pm. Stamping on Friday –Sunday from 8:00 – 10:00 am at Hoover Auditorium Third and Central Streets and from 10:30 am – 5:00 pm at Dziak Gallery 810 W. Main St. in Marblehead on Friday and Saturday. Painting Sites – A map of Lakeside will be provided that will indicate some possible painting sites. Check out the many gardens, parks, lakefront walkways, and many unique cottages, etc. Wherever you plan to set up, if there are houses, and if there is any doubt in your mind as to whether you are on someone’s property, ask first and paint later. It only takes a few minutes, and it may make all the difference in the world as to how future projects like this will be received. We ask that the artists paint on the grounds of Lakeside during the weekend. This may change in future paintouts in Lakeside, but on our second try on this we would like to offer only paintings within the gates of Lakeside. Artists are required to paint on Sunday at 1:00 – 3:00 pm on the waterfront area where the Wooden Boat show is taking place. Places to paint: Hotel Lakeside and surrounding grounds The waterfront Central Park The Wet paint show and sale will be held NEAR the Lakeside Pavilion at 3:00 – 5:00. Bring your easel and set up on the grass by the pavilion. All transactions will be done through Lakeside Association and the Association will take 20%. The artist can show their works either framed, matted, or unframed. Artist’s get together on Saturday at the Rhein Center from 4:30-6:00 pm will feature appetizers, a $5.00 per person charge to help defray costs payable at the door. This is a good opportunity to meet the faculty of the Rhein center and their volunteers, which plan all the art events, classes, etc for the community of Lakeside. They are always looking for new artists to teach during the Summer season. Juliann Rohn will be the hostesses for this event. If you get a chance stop and visit the Rhein Center. It is on the corner of 6th St. and Walnut. The center will be open for artist’s from 11-2:00 pm to view the center, use the bathroom, and get a cool drink. Juliann Rohn is the Rhein Center Coordinator and she will be there to greet you. “Artist’s in Cahoots” is a store that features artist’s wares from the Rhein center, for sale, and is by the Lakeside Administration Office on Walnut St. Joyce and Erin can supply you with information with any further information about Lakeside. Hoover Auditorium Lobby will have an exhibition celebrating 135 years of Lakeside and Chautauqua History, which includes artwork and images of Lakeside places. Your passes etc. give you access to all of Hoover Auditorium events. Check out the flyer in your packets for the events and on Sat. night the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats which is one spectacular show not to miss…. Housing in Lakeside is very limited due to several weddings that weekend. Check out the www.lakesideohio.com and see what you can find. As I said earlier, in order to get a place inside the gates, you need to do this before the end of April. Hotel information: If you haven’t secured a place to stay inside the gates, you can also stay at the following places. It is important to let them know that you are with the OPAS to get the discount deal. Also, there is a 72 hour cancellation policy. Call with 72 hours prior to first night stay and no charge will apply.
